Old Navy’s career boot camp kicks teens into high gear

Old Navy in Murfreesboro was the site in February for a job-shadowing program for teens from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Rutherford County.

Around 15 teens spent the day at the local Old Navy store for Camp Old Navy, a national job-shadowing program hosted by more than 350 Old Navy stores across the U.S. and Canada. Club teens learned about careers in apparel retail through a behind-the-scenes look at how Old Navy operates and experienced hands-on training in retail management, sales and merchandising.

Camp Old Navy is an outgrowth of CareerLaunch, a nine-week, career-oriented program designed to prepare our teens for their future career opportunities.

“I have learned how to fill out a job application from going through CareerLaunch,” said 16-year-old Marianne Markum. “We practiced by filling out applications for the Boys & Girls Club so I know how to answer the questions. Also, I know how to present myself during interviews and how to dress for them.” ∴
